About Focus Beka
I'm Beka, and I've been documenting life through a lens since high school darkrooms were still a thing.
Focus Beka is my photography practice based in Te Tairāwhiti. I returned home to Aotearoa in 2019 after 17 years away, and that homecoming reshaped how I work and what I prioritise.
Moments pass quickly, but their impact lasts. Good documentation creates a record — not just of what happened, but of how it felt, who was there, and what mattered.
What I document:
Weddings + Celebrations — Your day as it unfolds. The moments you didn't know were happening.
Friends + Whānau — Connection, relationship, and presence.
Events + Gatherings
— Conferences, workshops, exhibitions, community gatherings.
Birthing + Parenting — Pregnancy, birth, and early parenting documented with care.
Documentary + Travel — Long-form storytelling for creative projects and regional narratives.
Corporate + Creativity — Strategic visual content for businesses and organisations.
My background spans graphic design, photography, and community engagement. I bring a strategic eye to my work — understanding not just what to capture, but why it matters and how it will be used.
Good documentation creates a reference point. A way to look back, measure progress, and honour what happened.
If you need documentation that's thoughtful, reliable, and connected to Te Tairāwhiti — let's talk.
